Paula Moore
Supervisor of ESOL and World Languages
As Supervisor of ESOL and World Languages in Washington County Public Schools, Paula Moore has dedicated her career to languages. She served on Maryland’s Seal of Biliteracy task force and led her district to be the first in the state to award the Maryland Seal of Biliteracy. She earned TESOL's ELT Leadership Management Certification, a B.A. in French from Dickinson College, a French studies certificate from Institut de Touraine, an M.S. in Curriculum and Instruction and Instructional Leadership from Hood College. She was WCPS Teacher of the Year, finalist for Maryland Teacher of the Year, and was named to USA Today's All-Star Teaching Team. She is a member of EL Advisory Committees at the Maryland State Department of Education and Hagerstown Community College, and she serves on the Metropolitan Area Foreign Student Advisory. She presented at West Virginia TESOL, Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents, and was the keynote speaker at Western Maryland’s TESOL conference.

Honoring and Empowering Teachers with the Global Seal of Biliteracy
In this 30 minute session, the world language team at Washington County Public Schools in Western Maryland will show how the district honored and recognized language teachers through the Global Seal of Biliteracy. Participants will explore how the Global Seal of Biliteracy was a professional development opportunity that empowered teachers in their language teaching and language learning journey. The supervisor of ESOL and World Languages will explain the steps and the process the district used to credential and celebrate teachers. Teachers will narrate how the experience influenced and impacted them professionally and personally.
