Linda L Egnatz

2014 ACTFL Teacher of the Year, Global Seal of Biliteracy Executive Director

Linda Egnatz is most known for her role as national cheerleader for the Seal of Bilteracy, which recognizes language learners for their proficiency in two languages. Her support for the Seal began as an lllinois high school Spanish teacher, where she testified on its behalf as a 2013 Golden Apple Teacher of Excellence Award Winner. As the ACTFL 2014 National Language Teacher of the Year, she expanded her advocacy for language learners to support other states working to adopt a State Seal. In 2015, Egnatz served on the National Guidelines for the Seal of Biliteracy committee, and currently serves as Board Member for both ICTFL and JNCL-NCLIS. In 2018, Egnatz became the Executive Director of the Global Seal of Biliteracy, an international certification program designed to celebrate and certify language skills. She strongly believes that language credentials can provide bilinguals with future academic and employment opportunities and provide motivation to continue growing language skills.
