Maria Villaquiran

Technology Consulting Senior Manager

Maria Antonia Villaquiran has over 8 years of experience in the financial services industry serving global banking and capital markets in the areas of risk, regulatory compliance, and anti-money laundering. In EY’s Technology Consulting practice, as Senior Manager she specializes in helping financial institutions improve their Know Your Customer (KYC) processes utilizing emerging technologies. Maria has significant experience with international regulatory law regarding CIP, CDD/EDD, beneficial ownership, and ongoing customer monitoring. She has assisted multiple global financial institutions in the implementation of KYC policy for 50+ jurisdictions and workflow configuration into EY’s Platform with automation capabilities.



Maria has worked with EY clients in Argentina, Brazil, India, Mexico, Singapore, United Kingdom, and United States. She is fluent in English, Spanish, and conversational in Portuguese. Maria is a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist and holds a Certificate of Project Leadership from Cornell University. She graduated from The George Washington University with a Bachelor in Business Administration with a concentration in International Business and a Minor in Economics and is currently an MBA Candidate at Columbia Business School.

Stacie Berdan will facilitate an inspiring discussion about the value and importance of languages across all types of professions and around the world. Panelists will share experiences that illustrate how their language skills have helped them in their careers thus far, as well as the trends and opportunities they see emerging in the future global workforce. The panel includes an undergraduate college student who earned the Seal of Biliteracy; she shares her perspective on how her language skills have played a role in her studies research and part-time jobs thus far. The panel offers practical advice, helpful tips and a clear answer as to why language skills are critical to succeed in the global marketplace.
