Connor Yiamkis

Pit River Language Revitalizationist, Indigenous Language Network, University of Oregon MA in Language Teaching Studies.

Connor Yiamkis is a member of the Ilmawi band of the Pit River tribe. He graduated from CSU Chico in 2015 with a BA in Anthropology. After this he worked at an American Indian Education Center in Redding California where he got involved with language revitalization. Inspired by a conversation with a linguist and family members who are revitalizing the Pit River language, he decided to attend graduate school at the University of Oregon in the Language Teaching Studies program. There he graduated in summer of 2020 with an MA in LTS. Now he is putting the skills he learned in LTS to use by creating language learning materials and helping with grant writing for future language revitalization programs.
