Sheri Spaine Long

Executive Director, American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese

Sheri Spaine Long (Ph.D. UCLA) is the Executive Director of the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP). A career academic and teacher, she began as a Junior High Spanish teacher and rose to the rank of Professor of Spanish at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Subsequently, Long was appointed Distinguished Visiting Professor at the US Air Force Academy and served as Professor and Chair at UNC Charlotte. She has published more than 80 articles, chapters, and reviews as well as twelve textbooks for Spanish teaching. Long served at Editor-in-Chief of Hispania and Foreign Language Annals.

Its mission is to promote the study and teaching of the Spanish and Portuguese languages at all levels.
