Simone Elkins

3rd Year University Student

Simone Elkins graduated from Denver School of the Arts in 2018 after seven years in the Stagecraft and Design department. During her time at DSA, she received the Denver Public Schools Seal of Bilteracy for Spanish and English. Currently, she is a third-year student at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington, majoring in Japanese with a focus on Literature and Language, and minoring in Asian studies. Simone’s passion for the Japanese language and culture truly blossomed during a 2014 trip to Japan with her father, following a longtime love of anime and manga. Over time, she has become especially interested in Japanese literary classics by authors such as Natsume Soseki and Osamu Dazai. Simone’s favorite way to learn new vocabulary words in any language is through music – she would be thrilled to recommend her playlists.
