Mona Pace
French Teacher
Mona Laurence Pace is originally from Benin, West Africa. Since leaving Benin in 1998, she has lived in Accra (Ghana), Paris (France), London (UK) and has been living in Columbia (South Carolina) since 2007. She earned her Post Graduate Certificate in Education at Brunel University in London, and her Masters of Art in French with Emphasis on Literature at the University of South Carolina. Being fluent in 5 languages, she feels she is a living example of how important and valuable learning and exploring other languages and cultures can be, and how far it can take you in your life and career. In Mona’s case, it’s been an incredible journey, from growing up in a small village in West Africa, to where she is today. She has dedicated herself to sharing her passion for learning and exploring World languages, and strives to instill this same passion in all of her students. Mona currently teaches French at River Bluff High School in Columbia, SC and brings in her classroom not only language skills but a desire to explore the diverse Francophone culture. A cornerstone of her teaching philosophy is to provide her students with opportunities to learn communication skills in tandem with developing cultural competence.
