Why & How to Study Chinese NOW: Networking, Opportunities, Worlds
on demand session
This panel/session will address the frequently asked questions of “why” and “how” to study Chinese, particularly in the current domestic context that is increasingly inward-looking. Based on their work and experiences, the panelists will offer perspectives that help policy makers, educators, parents, and students in K-16 education settings to rethink and reframe the learning and teaching of Chinese in contemporary context. They will discuss why the learning of Chinese NOW is timely, which helps them network with learners and speakers of Chinese globally, offers them opportunities to learn and use Chinese in meaningful contexts and work, and connects them with the real world to make economic, social, cultural, and humanitarian contributions.
