GLOBAL Y-CRED SUPPORTS THE WORLD-READINESS STANDARDS FOR LEARNING LANGUAGES

Global Y-C.R.E.D. activities are designed to align to the “5 C’s” with meaningful and tangible activities:

• COMMUNICATION: 

  • Interpretive – Livestream broadcasts in multiple target-languages provide learners with culturally rich age-appropriate authentic input on a variety of topics.

  • Interpersonal – Livestream broadcasts in a secure setting provide students an opportunity to interact with comments and chatbox features. Global Connect Day provides teachers with a native-speaker Mystery Guest for their classroom.

  • Presentational – We’ve invited several learners to share their experiences as part of our livestream and on-demand content peer presentations.

• CULTURES: Livestream, On-Demand and Global Connect Day content offer authentic interaction with native speakers and places that we hope will provide opportunities for further deeper dives into their products, practices and perspectives.

• CONNECTIONS: Session topics vary; careers, sports, music, film, school, foods are just a few.

• COMPARISONS:  Several session presentations are learners who share their intercultural experiences in the target culture which can launch further discussion in your own classes.

• COMMUNITIES: This is where Global Y-C.R.E.D. shines! Your students will be able to interact with language learners all over the world in our virtual livestream event, they can converse with a native-speaker as part of a Global Connect Day experience, and with our College Fair, they’ll be able to take their next step toward lifelong language learning. 

GLOBAL Y-C.R.E.D. LEARNING OUTCOMES

The goals of Global Y-C.R.E.D. are to support Language Learners with THREE OUTCOMES:

1. LEVEL UP – Sessions are designed to provide learners with resources, tips and strategies to improve and grow language proficiency in order to earn valuable State or Global Seal of Biliteracy language credentials.

2. LEVERAGE – Sessions include examples and suggestions for learners on ways to maximize their opportunities by promoting and leveraging their bilingualism.

3. LINK TO OPPORTUNITY – Sessions as well as the Global Y-CRED COLLEGE FAIR offer students information about programs, experiences and opportunities to grow and use their language skills.

To access On-Demand content, ask students to register at www.theglobalseal.com/ycred.  If you registered as a teacher and requested a CODE for the $250 gift card opportunity, share your CODE with your students. Each student who registers with your CODE will be entered in the drawing for one of four gift cards.  Students will receive a confirmation email. If your school does not allow students to receive external emails, we suggest students use an alternate email address.

GLOBAL Y-C.R.E.D. IS FOCUSED ON LANGUAGE LEARNERS

Global Y-C.R.E.D. will host THREE TRACKS for Language Learners and ONE TRACK for Educators. The three learner tracks are: Level Up, Leverage and Link to Opportunity, the Educator Track offers general content on a variety of topics by language field experts.

GLOBAL Y-C.R.E.D. IS COMING TO A DEVICE NEAR YOU

All Global Y-C.R.E.D. content can be accessed in a variety of ways.  Experience our event through our event website or via livestream on social media platforms. On the day of the event, navigate to the main Y-C.R.E.D. page and login with the email that you registered with. After you have logged in, you will be redirected to the main event page where you will be able to access all live streams, on-demand content, and the college fair.

Global Y-C.R.E.D takes place October 14, 2021.  To access all of the content and events, register online at www.theglobalseal.com/ycred. To participate fully, we encourage Educators and Language Learners to register individually. 

Educators, #YCRED2021 registration is free to you and to your students. While it is possible to view Target-Language Livestream and On-Demand content as a group, we suggest your students register individually to have access to all content, including the On-Demand “Level-Up” tips, to be able to ask a question or comment during the livestream presentations, Self-Assessment and to enter the College Fair. In order for students to receive info email from either the Global Seal or college programs they select, they should register with a personal email rather than a school email address.
