Our target-language content is designed with the students in mind. Segments are short, and vary in length from 10 minutes to 30 minutes, and can be accessed via our website or YouTube channel. A “live-schedule” feature will allow you to see what time each segment is offered and adjusts to your time zone for convenience. Once the livestream has been broadcast, the recorded content will be available for later viewers across the multiple time zones of our student participants.

Students who are registered individually will be able to interact with live presenters using a chat feature for comments and/or questions. The livestream content is broadcast from a secure studio (no ZOOM bombers), so students will be able to participate off-camera, but presenters will be able to respond to student questions making this an Interpersonal activity.

NOVICE LEARNERS:  Students with novice level proficiency skills are still encouraged to join the target-language livestream. While viewing the livestream via YouTube, teachers and/or students can click on the gear “Settings” icon and select SUBTITLES for visual text support. You can also “slow down” the target language by clicking “Playback Speed” and slowing down the video. 

VIEWING OPTIONS:  The availability of live content will vary depending upon your time zone, the time of day, your class schedule, etc. Depending upon the topic and your class schedule, you may not be able to start and finish a segment. In this case, you can “MIX and MATCH” our #YCRED2021 offerings.  For example, in a 50 minute class period, you might watch a 15min livestream session, have students select a 15-20min On-Demand session, and invite students to spend the remaining 15-20 minutes exploring colleges in our College Fair offering. Livestream content will be archived for later viewing if there’s a segment you want to use at another time.
