Make your Global Y-C.R.E.D. an even BIGGER and more EXCITING FREE EVENT

WHY GO GLOBAL?

Purpose:

  • We want to expose world language learners to experiences in the target languages they are learning.

  • We want to provide opportunities for our students to leverage their language credentials, level up their language skills, and link their learning to future experiences.

  • We want students to know that language learning is a worldwide activity, creating excitement about being part of a global event.

Student Benefits:

  • Students will see how their language study can benefit them for life.

  • Students will get to experience and see the value in a conference.

  • Students will choose and explore what interests them.

  • Students will learn about scholarship and study abroad opportunities.

World-Readiness Standards for Learning Languages:

  • Communications - Students will communicate in the target language and will have the opportunity to hear sessions by native speakers. Sessions will also focus on strategies to level-up language skills.

  • Cultures - Students will learn about the culture of the target language.

  • Connections - Students will discover how languages compliment and boost career opportunities in a variety of curricular field areas.

  • Comparisons - Students will compare and contrast their own culture with that of target language cultures around the world.

  • Communities - Students will participate in a global event with language learners from Asia, Africa, Europe, South and North America, expanding their horizons and understandings, but also building awareness of languages spoken in their own local community.

This event was designed to meet the World-Readiness Standards for Learning Languages.
