Y-CRED 2025 Conference in a Box — Global Seal of Biliteracy

Make your Global Y-C.R.E.D. an even BIGGER and more EXCITING EVENT

We want to expose world language learners to experiences in the target languages they are learning.
We want to provide opportunities for our students to leverage their language credentials, level up their language skills, and link their learning to future experiences.
We want students to know that language learning is a worldwide activity, creating excitement about being part of a global event.

BEFORE THE EVENT:

It’s up to YOU! You can make it 1 Day – 2 Days (i.e., Block Schedules) – 1 Week (one class period per week) – or for after school homework or enrichment.
Decide how students will participate? Will they watch together as a class or independently choose their video content options? Will they watch videos as a group or individually on their own devices? As a language club?
How will you advertise and promote your Global Y-CRED event?
Will you invite a Keynote Speaker or Local Guest? (a former student using their language in a career, a multilingual community member or other?)
Who will you invite? Administration, Superintendent or Principal, School Board or Community Member, Media?
What “conference-like” items will you include for students? Banners, Participant Folders, Nametags, Snacks, Water, Certificates for Attendance?
If you provide a folder for students, what will it include? schedule, video list, pencil, networking activity, fun stickers, information about language careers or the Seal of Biliteracy?

Share our Classroom Slide Presentation Video “What is Y-C.R.E.D.?” with your students to inform them about the event and get them excited. There are slides to personalize for your school and event.
Prepare an official flier/poster(s) for the event. Include the Global Seal of Biliteracy’s “Global Y-C.R.E.D.” logo and hang it in a visible place.
Consider some “pre-event” activities. Example: Create a word cloud (use an APP such as answergarden or mentimeter) and ask, “What languages do you know or what languages would you like to learn?”
To add to the “conference feel,” include a break and/or networking time. You can ask admin or parents for snack/water donations, and provide networking activities such as signs with QR codes leading to quick games, trivia contest, scavenger hunt, Spotify list with target-language music, etc.
If you choose to have a Networking Break, you can use our provided games or activities or add your own. QR codes can be printed on cards or wall posters and displayed during the break.
