Dr. Jinlan Tang is the Dean and Professor of English Language Education in the Institute of Online Education, Researcher at Artificial Intelligence and Human Languages Lab, Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU), China. Her research covers the areas of language assessment, teacher training, EFL teaching and learning in the e-learning environment. She also serves as the Co-Editor-In-Chief of the Journal of China Computer-Assisted Language Learning, Associate Editor of the International Journal of Computer-Assisted Language Learning and Teaching, is a member of editorial boards of international academic journals such as e-FLT and Australian Journal of Applied Linguistics, and is a peer reviewer of key journals such as Assessment and Evaluation in Higher Education.
As the Secretary-in-General of Computer-Assisted Language Learning Association, China Association for Comparative Studies of English and Chinese (ChinaCALL), she has helped to organize the annual ChinaCALL international conference since 2010 and contributes to technology-enhanced language teaching and research development in China. She presents her research regularly in major national and international academic conferences and her publications include 46 research papers, one monograph, three co-authored books, and three co-authored special issue international journals.
In the last three years, she had led a team developing online learning applications for some less-commonly taught languages and a VR-based language and culture course at BFSU.
She is a registered expert of the International Association for Standardization (ISO) and member of the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Education Services of China. She is also one of the key members of the drafting committee of ISO 29991 Language-learning services —Requirements, ISO 29994 Education and learning services —Requirements for distance learning, ISO/DTR 29996 Education and learning services — Distance and digital learning services (DDLS) — Case studies.
