Test de Connaissance du Francais (TCF)
The TCF for all audiences is aimed at anyone aged 16 or over whose mother tongue is not French and who wishes for academic (students, future students, interns, etc.), professional (employees or future employees, etc.), or personal reasons to have their level of French assessed.
Exam Overview:
This TCF is made up of 3 compulsory tests, presented in the form of multiple choice questions (MCQ) and 2 complementary and optional tests, offered in the form of exercises and which the candidate can choose to take or not according to his needs:
Oral comprehension : 29 multiple-choice questions (4 answer choices, one correct answer), 25 minutes
Mastery of language structures: 18 multiple-choice questions (4 answer choices, one correct answer), 15 minutes
Written comprehension: 29 multiple-choice questions (4 answer choices, one correct answer), 45 minutes
Written expression : 3 exercises, 60 minutes
Oral expression : Individual face-to-face test with an examiner: 3 exercises, 12 minutes (including 2 minutes of preparation)
Aligned to the CEFR Proficiency Guidelines
Functional Fluency: Receive a passing score on the B1 test.
Working Fluency: Receive a passing score on the B2 test.
Professional Fluency: Receive a passing score on the C1 test.
Nationally & Internationally Recognized
Internationally recognized anywhere a B1, B2, or C1 CEFR score is accepted.
